How do we move the graph down 2 units?We subtract 2 units. Thus y = x3 becomes y = x3 - 2 and the graph moves down as illustrated in the below graph.
If we wanted to move the graph upward we would add the number of units we wanted to move.
example: y = x3 + 2 would move the graph y = x3 up 2 units.
The other parent functions are moved using the same procedure. For example to move y = x2 up 4 units
we would add 4 units y = x2 + 4
