Distance

Find the slope the following lines and determine if the lines are parallel, perpendicular or neither.

     line one  (4, 3), (-2, 5)         line two (2,-3), (-1, 6)

m =
y2 - y1
x2 - x1

Substitute the values for line one into the slope formula

m =
5 - 3
-2 - 4

m = - 1/3

Do the same for line 2

m =
6 - (-3)
-1 - 2

m = -3

They are neither! If they were parallel then the slopes would be the same.
If they were perpendicular then the slopes multiplied together would equal -1.
