A rectangular field has an area of 372 m2
What is the perimeter of the field if the lenght is twice the width?

l = length
w = width
l = 2w
area = 372 m2 = lw = (2w)w = 2w2
372 m2 = 2w2

Divide both sides by 2.
186 m2 = w2

Take the square root of both sides.
13.64 ≈ w

perimeter = 2l + 2w = 2(2w) + 2w = 6w = 6(13.64) = 81.84 m
