Absolute Value Inequalities

|-3a + 2| ≤ 23

-3a + 2 ≤ 23   → -3a ≤ 23 - 2   → -3a ≤ 21   → a ≥ 23/(-3)   → a  ≥ -7

When you divide or multiply an inequality by a negative number you must reverse the sign as we did in this problem.

-3a + 2 ≥ -23   → -3a ≥ -23 - 2   → -3a ≥  -25   → a ≤  -25/(-3)   → a  ≤ 25/3

Therefore    -7≤ a ≤ 25/3
